These commemorative plates were found in a warehouse, packed in the original shipping box, with each plate separated by paper. They were created in January 1981 immediately following the 17-10 victory of Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
The art is by the legendary cartoonist Clifford H. Baldowski (AKA "Baldy). The Augusta, Georgia native started with the Augusta Chronicle in 1946.
He briefly created original cartoon drawings for the Miami Herald before joining the Atlanta Consitution staff in 1950. He was for many years the political cartoonist for the Atlanta Journal until his retirement in 1982. "Baldy" also created political cartoons for Time Magazine, Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report.
We are offering these rare collectible plates at the appropriate price of $19.80 (NOW INCREASED TO $20.21) on our web site in this exclusive offer to Georgia Football fans. The supply is limited, and once they are gone, they are indeed Gone With The Wind. Do not tarry, Scarlett!
